KOTA KINABALU: The Society for the Sabah Heart Fund hopes to see the
construction work on its halfway home to begin in 2012.
Honorary Secretary for SOSHF, Eva Susau, who is also the initiator of
the project said that the proposed project has already been endorsed
by SOSHF president, Datuk Christine Van Houten and will be implemented
by the SOSHF exco committee.
The land and initial building funds are already on standby, she said.
She expressed her gratitude to the State government, and everyone
involved for the upcoming project.
Once completreed, the halfway home will serve as a lodging facility
for children seeking treatment at the Likas Hospital, particularly
those who are suffering from heart ailment.
Eva said that many of SOSHF patients are from the rural areas and the
presence of the halfway home serves to ease their burden when they
come to the city to seek treatment.
“We are appreciative of the continual support of our sponsors, members
and friends and we ask for your support so that together we can
continue to make an even more positive difference in our community.”
In her new year message, Eva said that SOSHF hopes to send more
patients for corrective heart surgery next year as this will allow
them a new lease of life.
“We also want to integrate our activities programmes involving
community on heart health concerns.”
Additionally, they also want to bring awareness of ‘caring for our
hearts’ to younger audiences and help them make changes in their
lifestyle.
