KOTA KINABALU: The Society for the Sabah Heart Fund (SOSHF) hopes to
realize its dream to establish the SOS Heart Fund Children Lodge.
According to SOSHF honorary secretary, Eva Susau, to the Borneo Post
yesterday, the lodge will house children suffering from congenital
heart disease as well as others from outstation.
“They can seek shelter at the lodge while seeking medical treatment in
Kota Kinabalu.”
She added that there is a pressing need of this shelter home to be
used as half way home near to the Children Hospital in Likas.
“Many of our patients from the rural areas have to travel two to three
days to reach the hospital. Most times, they will be required to stay
for a few nights before they could go home. The hospital also provide
free lodging but unfortunately, not everyone can get free lodging at
the hostel provided by the hospital due to limited beds,” she said.
She said that because of this, the NGO has decided to take a bold step
towards realizing the half way home for the children seeking treatment
at the Children Hospital.
Eva added that they hope to get at least half an acre of land to
construct the half way home.
“We hoping the government will help us in that avenue,” she said.
She also said that a well known contractor has already pledged to help
the society construct the building.
