KOTA KINABALU: The Society for the Sabah Heart Fund (SOSHF) will be
celebrating its 30th Anniversary on October 5.
Tickets for the event are available for sale at the SOSHF office as
well as from its representatives, said SOSHF honorary secretary Eva
Susau yesterday.
Prices range from RM2,000, RM3,000, RM5,000 and RM10,000 per table.
She added that they hope to raise funds for their newest initiative –
a halfway house for heart patients seeking treatment at the Likas
Children Hospital.
She said that they would need at least RM1 million for the initiative,
taking into consideration the number of patients (and their escorts)
they wish to accommodate at any one time.
“That would be between 15 and 20 people at any one time. Of course,
there will be times when it will not be that full, so we are also
opening our doors to other patients at the hospital who would be in
need of accommodation while they seek treatment,” she said.
At the same time, Eva also said that they are looking for a piece of
land between 15,000 square feet and 20,000 square feet within that
vicinity.
“We are looking for a good Samaritan who is willing to help us out in
this cause,” she said.
Meanwhile, SOSHF has sponsored and assisted 521 heart patients since
its inception.
Eva said that times are harder now, with the increased price of
surgery by 20 to 30 percent this year.
Ends.
