KOTA KINABALU: Thallasaemic children at the Likas Hospital and Society
for the Sabah Heart Fund (SOSHF) sponsored children were presented
with gifts in conjunction with the upcoming Christmas celebration
recently.
The gifts were collected during the Trefoil Guild Kota Kinabalu
District’s Annual Dinner held at the Grand Port View near here and
presented to the Likas Children Hospital.
According to the chairman of the Trefoil Guild Kota Kinabalu District,
Eva Susau, the gifts were from the members of the guild, local
authority (LA) and the ranger club members.
“Before the dinner, we made a proposal to all the attendees to bring
with them a Christmas gift and that these will be later presented to
the children. We felt that since most children love to play with toys
and toys do tend to take on an altogether significant role during
Christmas time,” she said.
Additionally, the Likas Children Hospital has also been calling
members of the public to donate toys to the children patients seeking
treatment there.
She added that the guild is a charitable organization whose members
are mainly girl guides from schools.
“We strive for the social development of young people and provide our
services voluntarily,” she said.
Present during the presentation ceremony were the guild’s Vice
President for Sabah, Pang Su Li, Immediate Past Chairman, Jocelyn
Hong, Vice Chairman, Helen Chong, Committee member, Datin Ignetia
Roberts and Likas Children Hospital’s Head of Pediatrician Dr Soo
Tian Lian.
